NATURAL STATE OF DRAG is a documentary film project about the history of Drag in Arkansas—

a red state with blue roots and a long tradition in

the art of female impersonation. 

 

Conservative, but sassy, it is a state where looks can be deceiving. This film delves deep into Arkansas' many historical contradictions, where entrenched racism and prejudice have existed alongside the vibrant personalities who have defied the odds and paved the way for the LGBTQ+ community to express themselves and find freedom in the art of drag.
